Veteran's Day 2007
Gandhi said
It is better to be violent, if there is violence in our hearts, than to put on the cloak of nonviolence to cover impotence.
It's Veteran's Day in the U.S. Originally created as Armistice Day, the holiday became Veteran's Day in 1954, it's purpose, as President Eisenhower said
to observe the day by remembering the sacrifices of all those who fought so gallantly, and through rededication to the task of promoting an enduring peace
To remember this Veteran's Day, here is a video of my son and his mates at work during the Pakistan earthquake relief effort. Some of the people you'll see are no longer with us. Some have finished their term of service. Other's are still serving. The video was created by one of the participants.
To those who have served, and are serving, including my sons,
Thank you.

It's too bad that the part after the comma hasn't applied much lately. Wish we were deploying our brave, hardworking young people to, say, stop the genocide in Somalia rather than having used them to shatter Iraq with no game plan for the war's aftermath.
We still have the military doing its part; it's the political leadership that has become increasingly corrupt, imo.
It may be more charitably described by Goethe's
LIke actors, politics and politicians are a reflections of ourselves as a society.
Hey dad,
Thank you much, we all appreciate it over here. So, thanx,
Love always, your son
Jon
You're welcome, son.
