Site Slowdown

If you're like me, you may have noticed that Shards has been taking a loooooonnnnnngggg time to load this week. Most bloggers have some type of statistical package integrated into their code. I've been using W3 Counter. I like the package. It tells me the important things about the pages that are important to you on my site. Evidently they've been growing quickly, though, and as a result their servers can be slow to load the code that is needed to gather statistics. The end result was that pages on my site were frustratingly slow to load.Read more

Three Ways to Get Me Back to Your Blog

At last count Technorati is tracking over 50 million blogs. Obviously I don't want to read anywhere near all of them. There are only so many hours in a day that I am willing to devote to reading blogs. When a blog does pique my interest, there are three things I look at before spending much time at the site. Blogging and Personal Development

Blogging has taken the wired world by storm. Technorati says they track over 50 million blogs (kind of reminds you of McDonald's saying x million burgers sold, doesn't it). The Pew Internet and American Life Project says that 8 percent of American internet users, 12 million people, blog. For every blog tracked, there are many more that escape notice. Most blogs are not about making money. They tell the stories of my life and yours, and the wisdom we have accumated through the years.Read more
