Shards of Consciousness

Sunday Reading - 03 June 2007 :

An early summer has hit this area. Temperatures continued in the 80s (Fahrenheit), toeing up to the 90s on some days. We have seen clouds, but they have released their burden to the north or the south. Farmers are seeing the effects of the lack of moisture.

On the personal side, it has taken most of the week for me to get back to my normal self - principally due to recovering from over-extending my body's resources over last weekend and the early part of the week. But renewed I am, thanks to a couple of 10 hours of sleep nights and extra time with meditation, breathing exercises, and sponging out.

Reading, and thinking, had their role to play. Liz Strauss' A Walk in the Zen Moonlight is a perfect description of something we should all do daily, whether physically or mentally, to keep ourselves centered.

The Thoughts published Intellect, Intelligence, and Awareness, a meditation on balancing intellect, awareness, and imagination.

Finally, Karen Lynch has posted a beautiful illustration of judgement and viewpoint in Dandelion.

Thank you to everyone who shared links to Shards this week :

  • Oh, how I wish I came over here more often. It's so lovely. Thank you for your relaxing Sunday reads.

I'm delighted to hear that you're back to being yourself again. Sleep is wonderful! My pillow is a very close friend of mine. :)

  • Thanks Rick!
I love the Sunday Reading anyway but it is even better when you include one of my posts!;)
Glad to hear you are back! We all have those times!

  • Rick, sleep is a must to keep you running well. I so agree that on the weekend it's great to shut off the computer and fly with ideas in a new environment... You inspire me!

We're just getting some rain today, too, and since there was only 1/4 inch in our area last month it seems like such a blessing.

  • Hi Liz,

    You're welcome anytime.

I recall you expressing your appreciation for your pillow. I think Prometheus knew what a boon they would be and brought one when he brought the gift of fire. :-)

  • I'm glad you like the reading, Karen. Thank you for the dandelions. I was just telling my mom last week dandelions are perfect for a yard.

  • Hi Robyn,

We finally got some rain today, too, gentle and for several hours now. The temperatures have cooled, and it should aid the farmers. On the other hand, my yard will be wanting me to mow. ;-)

The theatre is a great change of pace. I am grateful to Lady Glynis for it - though sometimes it is hard to tell. :-)
