Podcast 46 - Totally Relax

March 7th, 2008 by Richard Cockrum

One aspect of meditation is that it is a way to relax the mind. A result of its methods is to slow the activity of the conscious mind until, with practice, they stop. The equivalent for the physical body is conscious relaxation, a way to release physical tensions until, with practice, you can send the body to sleep while retaining full awareness of the conscious mind.

In this podcast I describe a technique of progressive relaxation that has the rejuvenating and strengthening effects on the body that meditation has for the mind. Using this technique you can reduce the effects of stress on your physical being, improve the responses of your immune system, and in the long term, help keep you out of the doctor’s office.
