Eight Things
January 8th, 2008 by Richard CockrumThe move to the new host went well. I only forgot a few podcasts, but found them fairly quickly. The site seems a bit faster to me now. Does it seem that way to you? If you do have any problems with it, please let me know.
Y’all haven’t missed anything as far as writing, I’ve just been quiet. To ease myself back into the flow, I’m going to answer a meme call from Shelly at This Eclectic Life, the theme of eights AKA the Crazy Eights theme.

Yes, you thought this would be an easy post to snap out quickly, didn’t you? It’s harder than it seems. These memes take me much longer to write than a regular post.
Your wife and I are probably thinking the same thing. Why can’t you say, “What can I cook for dinner?” LOL. Thanks for the link love.
I’m procrastinating on the Share A Square update…I wanted to say I don’t need any more squares, but I’ve still got nine kits to put together. If you have a couple of squares done, that would be totally cool (yours are already in afghans).

It was hard, Shelly. The answers are there, but you don’t usually think about them so you have to dig them out. It’s like trying to describe your hands. You see them every day, but you don’t really look at them.
I can cook. I don’t like to. I don’t mind doing dishes, though. Lady Glynis likes to cook. She doesn’t like doing dishes. So she cooks, and I wash up. It works out good.
I’ll get more squares out to you within the week. It’s fantastic that almost all the kits are done.

Hi Rick, so cool that you say religious and political DIFFERENCES as one of the things that attract you to your friends. Building diversity is neat and it starts with us.
Cheers,

Hello Nneka.
I would hate to be around too many people like me. I’m too obnoxious, and it would be too much like talking to myself. Stimulation comes from variety and forces us to clarify what we do think and feel.

Thanks, Rick. You’ve been a blessing!

Rick:
What host did you move to?
I couldn’t help but notice one of the 8 things you want to do before you die used to be to learn how to fly and now you want to “remember” to fly. This got me curious as I’m a pilot myself. Can you tell me more about this?
January 11th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Hi Stephen,
I moved to A Small Orange. The plan I have is $5 a month for 400MB of disk space, 10GB bandwidth per month, MySql 5.x, PHP 5.x, and addon sites get their own email. The newer software and the individualized email accounts were the main reasons I moved. So far it’s been mostly good. The site seems to be a little faster to me most times, though I do notice some slowdowns occasionally.
About the flying. When I was young I wanted to learn to fly. I still wouldn’t mind learning to fly an ultralight, but it isn’t the strong desire that it used to be. However, I’ve had enough out of body experiences and dreams of flying that the sensation, the freedom, stays with me. This happens seldom now, though, and I keep working on making it happen on demand.

Wow! You’ve had out of body experiences? That’s way cool. I actually remember having one such dream. I was sleeping and in this dream I was soaring like Superman or Spiderman (LOL) flying around tall buildings in New York City. It was a very vivid dream and although it happened a LONG TIME AGO, I still remember it to this day.

That is so cool that you had such a vivid flying dream, Stephen. Isn’t it a high?
Flying dreams do stick with us for a long time. I wrote a series on out of body travel that talks about the techniques I’ve used to get out.
