I Dreamed You

October 29th, 2007 by Richard Cockrum

Rick. I want to buy a theatre.

Okay. Sure. We’ll go right down.

Seriously. I want to buy a theatre. There’s one for sale in Ambridge.

We can’t afford a business.

I know. But I still want it. It has apartments over it.

Lady Glynis knows how to pique my interests. She knew I wanted to own rental units.

Okay. Let’s take a look.

Eight months later, after working out a deal, obtaining financing, and six months of training by the prior owners, my wife and I both had a dream come true.  We were the proud owners of the only remaining neighborhood movie theatre in the county, with two occupied rental units. That was nine years ago. We have never missed a payment on the loan. We continually, if slowly, improve the amenities. We have upgraded the projection equipment. We have frequent, dedicated, caring patrons. We have won an outstanding business award from the local Chamber of Commerce for which we are grateful.

Lady Glynis has been the creative dreamer of our marriage. She made us a house and a home. She made us a family. She gave us financial security.

We’ve got a deal in our marriage. She decides what we want. I decide how to make it work. It began even before we were together. One day as I was discovering I loved her I asked here what were were doing. She turned to me and said I dreamed you.

I will be forever grateful.

What have you dreamed for your life?

    Awesome Richard!

Great post! I have always believed our dreams can come true if only we have the courage to believe in them :)

Thanks for reminding me of the importance of dreaming once again. How I wish the project is kicking off this week. This post would have been the number one for the project. Anyway, you still have the top spot man.

Regards to your wife, the dreamer ;)

    Oh Rick!

I have tears in my eyes. I really like your contract, I will be speaking with my hub about altering our own. What we dream, what we believe is possible is our reality.

All my best to you and your lucky wife.

and a Happy Halloween to boot.

    Danielle

    Hi Nneka,

    We try.

    Well, usually. :)

I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  5. Richard Cockrum Says:

    Hi Adebola,

    Lady Glynis thanks you.

I’m grateful she helps mine come alive.

  6. Richard Cockrum Says:

    Hi Danielle,

And a Happy Halloween to you and your family. :)

I’m the fortunate one. I would rather live with Lady Glynis than me.

It’s not so much a contract, as just the way things have worked out, a natural outgrowth of who we are individually, and together. By myself, I would be living in a hovel with a few books and a computer. It’s pretty neat how we have meshed to create a life from our individual dreams.

What we dream, what we believe is the most important factor in shaping our world.

    Great post Richard,

Dreams do come true, and you’ve just shown that. I hope this is a great inspiration for many of us.

  8. Richard Cockrum Says:

    Thank you, Lawrence.

I hope this does inspire people. Our dreams do come true, each and every day.
