Podcast 31 - How We Know

September 6th, 2007 by Richard Cockrum

We have three basic sources of knowledge - personal experience, reasoning, and the testimony of other people. To these some people add a fourth source of knowledge, intuition. In large part, though, intuition is a type of personal experience, a form of direct perception that is shaped and transformed by the beliefs we hold.

In this episode of the Shards of Consciousness podcast, which is based on an article written in December, 2006 - How Do You Know?, I explore these ways to obtain knowledge, how we use them to create our models of the world, and how we can use them to shape our lives.

This podcast is longer than most I have done, but its contents underlie much that you read and hear here on Shards.
