The Basics of Shards of Consciousness Posted
July 31st, 2007 by Richard CockrumI don’t know how other people keep up with all they’ve written. It’s kind of like remembering what you thought about on October 12, 1983. Can you remember? I can’t. I’ve gone through something like that here. There aren’t that many posts on this site, less than a great many other people who have been blogging as long as I have. And I look back over them more frequently than many people as I decide what to podcast. Still, many things, some important, get lost. I can only try to imagine what it’s like for people who are new to Shards to see what is going on here.
There has to be a way to make it easier to find what is most important on the site. Thanks to a reminder for Nneka at the Balanced Life Center, who was in turn reminded by Phil at Make It Great, I’ve done something about it. If you’ll look up at the menu in the header here, I’ve added a page called The Basics.
This is a great place to start becoming acquainted with the material here at Shards. This page contains basic information on the tools of personal freedom and some of the theory behind the tools. If you’re new here, it’s an excellent place to start your tour of the site. If you’ve been coming for a while, there will probably be some articles that you’ve missed. You may find them here. I hope this helps. If you have any suggestions about articles you think belong on the Basics page, please let me know.

What a great idea, Rick… I may have to do that myself. I found a couple of posts on the new page I hadn’t read before - it’s not just for the new people!

All kudos to Nneka and Phil, Lyman. You’ve already made it worth my while knowing you found posts that you hadn’t read before.
In addition to the Basics page, I’d like to figure out how to turn either the Sitemap or the Archives page into a card catalog grouping the posts with titles and a synopsis. Excerpts and search boxes are nice, but I think finding things would be easier that way.
