Podcast 25 - Who Are You to Play God?
July 26th, 2007 by Richard CockrumMost of our culture, whether secular or religious, teaches us that who we are is the result of things outside of ourselves. Our thoughts and our attitudes, our illnesses and our triumphs, our acts of good and and our acts of ill, are the results of our genes, our upbringing, how we are made. In today’s episode, based on Who Am I to Play God?, I discuss how, very often, this is true.
But it doesn’t have to be so. You can assume control.

Your point about information overload is so true.
I decided before I started Modern Musings that every piece of new information I receive I must DO something with it, whether it is research for a blog post or becoming actively engaged in politics.
I learned that once I learn something I have to stop and absorb it before producing as well. Sometimes, I understand it deeply after a few days and others I realize the flaws in the information.
I want to steer away from the reactionary and toward the actionary.
Tomorrow, Saturday, I am doing the Blogathon posting 48 posts in 24 Hours. Stop by if you have a chance.
As always…

Oh yeah,
I did another podcast myself which I will feature tomorrow.
I have a question, where did you get the embeddable player for the podcast?

Hi Danielle,
That is one issue I see with the internet in general, and blogging in particular. They can often become new ways to not do anything. Learning to act, not react, is a very good approach.
I’m using Podpress, a Wordpress plugin for embedding audio and video files for the podcasts. It’s nice because it allows me to host the podcasts myself, and allows the listener to stream the media or download it as they choose. I don’t have the latest version. It can sometimes be persnickety (neat word, hey) with the rss feed, and strip the formatting from it. This version works well, and I don’t want to take a chance of breaking anything until I feel I need to upgrade.
Good luck with the Blogathon. I will stop in if I have the time. Weekends are for movies - as in showing, not watching - at my house.
