Sunday Reading - 29 April 2007
April 29th, 2007 by Richard CockrumSunday morning is here once more. Today we have sunshine, after a week of the earth being fed by rain. The apples are in full bloom. Many bulbs are up. Most of Lady Glynis’ roses survived the late cold snap. The neighbor’s flox is beautiful. Earlier this week the theatre Lady Glynis and I own and operate was honored as the Outstanding Business of 2007 by the local Chamber of Commerce. We’ve also been given the go-ahead to open the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie with all the multiplexes. This is a big thing for us, since we usually get films 4 - 6 weeks after they come out.
On to today’s reading. It has long been been understood that a magical act requires at least two thing - imagination and emotion. Imagination supplies the form, while emotion supplies the energy. Karen Lynch talks about the importance of words, one of the forms of imagination, while we are creating our lives in Words.
In Wonder Twin Powers - ACTIVATE! Aaron Potts looks at the other end as he discusses the importance of the feeling behind the words, the energizing force of all creation. While he is at it, he gives a glimpse into the multiplicative effect of more than one person working toward the same goal.
On another note, Steve Olson talks about What Are We Teaching Our Children About Power and Self-Control. Are we really teaching what our children need to learn?
In the past 50 years there has been a huge increase in autoimmune system disorders, asthma, and skin diseases. There is evidence that much of this increase has resulted from our fanatic quest to kill all bacteria in our environment. Hacking Your Body’s Bacteria for Better Health, from Wired Magazine, talks about the need for bacteria in our personal ecosystems.

Thanks for including my post in this Sunday’s reading - I appreciate it! I love the other posts as well - great stuff to get people thinking about what we are focusing our attention on.
Congratulations on the Chamber of Commerce award - that is GREAT! Enjoy the new options that this opens up for you!

Rick,
I love your Sunday readings because of the imagery you create in my mind as you describe the day– the apple trees, the bulbs, the rain, the Lady Glynis’ roses! Was it last week with the drizzly rain? Sounds as if you live in a beautiful place-but then don’t we all?
Thank you for including my post! It is so appreciated!
Joy and Blessings,
Karen

You’re welcome, Aaron. I’m grateful for the effort you put forth and the opportunity you give us to learn from your thoughts and experience. Please keep it up.
And thank you for the kudos on the award. It surprised us, and we’re grateful.

Hi Karen,
Two weeks ago was the rain. Last week I missed the Sunday post.
Every place is beautiful if you allow it to be and don’t try to make it something it isn’t.
Thank you for writing the post. Words, the way we use them, and the way we let them shape us, fascinate me. Even better is when people (you) write things I think better than I can write them and I can point other people to it. Keep it coming!
