Tagging - It’s Not Just For the Park Anymore

December 7th, 2006 by Richard Cockrum

For the first time in years, I’m it in a game of tag. That old standby of summer sunsets has infiltrated blogging, and I’ve been tagged by Kam at Passion Meets Purpose , Carolyn at ThoughtsPhilosophies, and Maria at The Good Life to let the world know five things about me.

1. I was the best man at my wife’s first wedding. Now she likes to say I really was the best man.

2. I’m rotten at most sports - including tag. In 9th grade I was a tackling dummy on the football team. I did throw a mean discus, though. :-)

3. I have the fashion sense of a catfish. My wife buys most of my clothes so they don’t look dumb, then makes sure I can mix and match safely.

4. Michael Feldman’s Whad’Ya Know? is one of my favorite shows on radio.

5. I have no idea when my ancestors came to the U.S. All I know is they lived in the Georgia/Alabama areas for a long time and came from England. Does that mean they didn’t necessarily come voluntarily?

Yay, my turn to tag! Tim, Trevor , Cuileann, Ben, Starbucker - you’re it!

    Ok Rick!

I’m thinking the rules should be changed, though. You were tagged three times and only told us five things :)

By the way, I’ve been meaning to ask if your quote bar is a plug-in or is it part of the theme?

    Carolyn

Plus One - When I was 19 I found out God really does look out for children and drunks when I fell off a second floor ledge to the ground and didn’t even get a bruise. :-) The karate masters are right about a lot of injuries being caused by resistance to a blow, not the actual blow itself.

The quotes are from the Random Quotes plugin by Dustin. The download page gives complete instructions on installing it. I copied the css he uses into my style sheet, then put the call to the random quotes function first thing inside my wrapper div to have it be the first thing on the page. You can put it anywhere, though.

While I’m at it, if you go to My Blogging Tools, you can see a list of all the plugins and other tools I use. The only thing that has changed is the theme.

  4. Carolyn Manning Says:

Well, I suppose you thanked God for God.

And now, I thank you. Tomorrow’s list: install quotes.

    Rick~

I LOVE #1…sounds like a juicy story! and same goes for the plus 1…all this tag and “getting to know you” has me wishing we could all gather round a big long table and share a feast together with some great red wine, chillin’ music and just swap stories till the sun comes up!!

Thanks for sharing and playing along!!

    Kam:)

  6. Rick Cockrum Says:

    Hey Kam,

So you like the skeletons of our misspent youths! I wouldn’t change any of them. They’ve made us what we are today.

This has been the virtual equivalent of our feast. A toast!

  7. Terry Starbucker Says:

Gotcha Rick! Stay tuned for my list, and thanks for the link. All the best.

  8. Rick Cockrum Says:

I’m looking forward to it, Terry! Thank you for joining the fun.

  9. Maria Palma Says:

    Rick!

Thanks for playing ;) It’s funny, but I’ve come to realize just how small our blogosphere is! You know people that I know and they know other people I know…and those other people know…

I can see us running around in my head! ha ha

    Hi Maria,

Either six degrees of separation is actually less, we form communities in the virtual world, the same as in the physical world, or a little of both.

    Have a great weekend. :-)
