October 2006: Blogtipping Personal Development Bloggers
October 1st, 2006 by Richard CockrumI don’t normally post on Sunday, but this being the first of the month, it’s blogtipping day. This month I have three bloggers to tip. I hope you get as much out of reading their sites as I do.
Tippee #1: Christine Kane
1 - Your style of writing is impressive. When you write about a subject, it’s obvious that you’ve taken the time to think about it deeply.
2 - I like the way your monthly archive pages give the title of each post for the month along with the date of posting and the number of comments it received.
3 - You’re right in there with the comments. You let people know you’ve read what they say and respond to them.
Tip - Keep doing what you’re doing!
Tippee #2: Peter Kua’s Radical Hop
1 - Your writing is clear and to the point.
2 - I like your white on blue color scheme. It’s easy on the eyes.
3 - The related posts at the end of your articles make it easy to find other articles you’ve written about the subject.
Tip - More interaction with your commenter’s, even a simple acknowledgement, would be well received.
Tippee #3: Bryan C. Fleming
1 - The Million Dollar Savings Club is a great idea.
2 - You help the self-help community by hosting the Personal Growth Carnival.
3 - Your articles contain common sense, practical advice.
Tip - Think about using the same background color on your ads that the surrounding text uses. People will still know they are ads. Their white background is a jar to the eyes.

Totally agree ^_^ And maybe make the huge ad at the top of the page less conspicious …

But then, you could say the same thing about this page, Yvonne. I have no more problem with blog ads than I do magazine ads. In a book I would mind ads. The question to ask is, are the ads there to support the site, or is the site there to support the ads?
Sometimes we non-visual people have trouble getting design right.

And I just realized I forgot to say hi. So, Hi Yvonne!

Ha ha, you don’t need to welcome me Rick
I don’t mind ads, I really don’t - it’s the really blatant ones which take up half the page which ping me off! You, on the other hand, have your ads where it doesn’t force me to read around it, and I’m fine with that

Thanks for the blogtip, Rick! What a nice affirmation to start my day! Keep doing what you’re doing, too…
