Simplified Letter Combinations

Many letter combinations in English are diphthongs - the two letters act as one sound. In these cases, there are simplified ways of writing the letter combination in notescript. Note that the form can change depending on whether the letter combination occurs in the beginning, middle, or end of the word.

Compound Words

Many words in English in which these letter combinations occur are actually compound words. In these cases, don’t use the simplified letter combination. Preserve the sense of the word by writing each letter separately. Some examples are:

At this point you should know the simplified script that is used in notescript speed writing. We have covered the 100 words that entail 60% of the words used in written English. The next lesson begins the rules notescript uses to eliminate letters in writing.
